2019 Lazy Beaver Race
Raising funds for Baraboo River and nature trail improvements have been a main purpose of the Lazy Beaver Canoe and Kayak Race since the first race in 2001. Sponsored in more recent years by the Reedsburg Kiwanis, that goal has continued. Here Jeff Seering, left, of the Reedsburg Kiwanis, presents a $1,000 donation check to David Murphy, president of the Friends of the Baraboo River. The donation will be used by the Friends toward the purchase of equipment to be used for clearing paths through log jams on the river. Last year the Reedsburg Kiwanis donated $500 to the Friends group for river improvements.
The Lazy Beaver Canoe and Kayak race, held each year the last Saturday in July, is held on the Baraboo River with a starting point in LaValle with the finish in Reedsburg.
